This book was the first book I ever read that was based on Jane Austen and her novels. And I have to say that I loved it. Six friends, six novels, six lives who need comfort and change. It’s a delightful story about how the lives of six people can change when they start a book club about Jane Austen; once they start asking themselves “What would Jane do?”, their problems seem to be less of a problem, so it is easier for them to find the solution.
The best part of this book is the characterization. Every character is unique and their traits make you feel close to them. And it is great to see how the author manages to link Jane Austen’s topics from her books to the lives of Californian people from the 21st century.
A real delight and a perfect read for a weekend. The movie is great too, but I would recommend to read the book first.
